BICEP | MUSCLE WORX (EXCLUSIVE MIX FOR FADER MAGAZINE NYC)

This is unreal,....

I come accross this t'other night as i follow Bicep on Soundcloud and visit the blog most weeks. Theses guys are bang on the button and always have been. If your not sure who they are..Basically they run a blog called Feel My Bicep which IMO is brilliant as they put alot of stuff up that is usually quite difficult to find & often forgotten. The blog is just brilliant(much better than this one) as it covers most aspects from really romantic(shit) Disco through proper proper House. Anyow here's a few words about the mix from the men themselves.!

An exclusive mix recorded for Fader Magazine New York
Bicep presents "Muscle Worx"
Whilst moving forward is essential in dance music, looking back is equally important. Digging through big ole' dusty creates is a passion of ours and continuing on the theme of our recent track $tripper we've put together a mix of some of our favourite 90s inspired finds from the past two years! It's a mixture of vinyl and some subtle edits which we recorded recently in London summing up what we feel is proper house music at it's finest.
You can catch up spinning some plates down at Fabric on July 7th were we'll be hosting a FEELMYBICEP room with a very special guest, none other than 90s house legend Terrence Parker! Expect Big, Fun, Carefree house

Back to Basics - The 1000th Party

1991. Britain is in deep recession. Unemployment figures reach 2 million. The Gulf war has begun. The nation is submerged in doom and gloom.

By November, the locals of Leeds had an escape route. A gateway to a better place with good company, good times and a soundtrack to match. On November 21st of that year, The Music Room opened its doors to the first Back to Basics night. Ralph Lawson, unaware that he was about to kick-start an institution, playing the first record; Marshall Jefferson's 'Open Our Eyes'. Fast forward 20 years and they are the proud owners of the longest running club night in the world. In its time the like of Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, Groove Armada, Derrick Carter and Todd Terry have taken control of the mixer at the now legendary club. As Basics founder Dave Beer once said, ‘anyone who is worth their salt in dance music have passed through the doors’. This weekend, Basics regulars will be treated to their 1000th party, with deep/soulful house ambassador Kerri ‘Kaoz’ Chandler headlining. Chandler will be playing a 4 HOUR set, complete with live vox and keyboards. Holy Schmoke.

It doesn't stop there for the Basics crew. The line-ups for the next two month have been released, and they are as strong as ever - there'll be no break to get our heads together with a solid line up each week throughout January and February. Slow Cookin' favourites S.A.S. (Adam Shelton & Subb-an) celebrate their One Records party, we see the return of long time resident and Basics regular Andrew Weatherall and we round off an eventful two months with Italians stars Massi DL and Rio Padice. As well as these superb bookings, the residents are amongst the best you will find. Upstaging the guests is a regular occurence.

Cast your eyes over these line ups and get your place booked ASAP.
