Tristan Da Cunha & Frenchy - Disco Till I Die Mix June 2013

Track artwork

Two of my Personal fave DJ'S...seen them shed loads of times often outshing the guests at Basics & Mad Hatters...scanning many genders & there Throwing Shapes Radio show is off the chain...this is what they had to say about the mix.

We're very proud to present the first mix from Tristan Da Cunha and Frenchy under their Disco Till I Die guise. Recorded in one take live from Waxwerks the boys bring you 70 mins of modern disco & tastefully done edits that just give it that extra lick to make them more dancefloor friendly without being disrespectful to the originals.
Disco Till I Die is a bi-monthly party at The Garage which so far has seen Greg Wilson and Maurice Fulton play, with Chris Duckenfield aka Popular People's next up on Sat 29th of June. The parties have been an instant hit and have proved so popular we're taking the show on the road. Upcoming Disco Till I Die gigs to check out are:-
Friday 21st June: Horse and Groom, London
Saturday: 29th of June: Waterfront Festival disco all dayer followed by DTID at The Garage with Chris Duckenfield eveing party at The Garage, Leeds
Sunday 25th of August: Faversham Garden Party, Leeds.

Doug Lazy - Let the rhythm pump (dotts deeper mix)

Sorry ive not posted for a while as i've been having a break from music & concentrating on been an adult(decorating the house, chilling with me woman & indulging xmas etc etc. So anyow i heard this the other day & liked so much I wanted to share it & what better way to kick off the blog in 2013!!

Dotts is a friend of mine now, we met through mutual & even more mutual friends. He’s a dude that’s been there from day one  hanging around with know DJS now & repsected DJS of the past but is not bothered about telling you about it every time you see him unlike others who send me to sleep with exaggerated stories & “you wasn’t there tales”. He once told me in conversation that he really fell out with music for a while(late 90's early 00's) & has only recently really started to enjoy it again, this is due to his family commitment’s changing, Daughter getting a little older & Lots of rain. Rain is good for Dotts as he is a builder by trade & rain means no work & no work means Production time. Dotts is a production machine of late(I’m getting a link to an edit, remixes, new track almost daily). He’s done loads that cut the cloth but this is the one that has stood out to me most of all.

Enjoy

P.S IF ITS BEEN RAINING CHECK HIS SOUNDCLOUD THE DAY AFTER.!

Zutekh Podcast 003 - Tristan Da Cunha - Come Into My House!

Track artwork

A cheeky Poddy that been on phone for a fair while now, One of my fave DJ's & Long time insparation Tristan Da Cunha.I bought my first ever "house" record of Tris back in the play music days & i've been watching him play for years at Basic's always one to be warming proceeding perfectly or taking it to the next level after the guest. The Basics 20th Birthday mix is one of my all time faves & this one is not too far behind!Proper party vibez!!

These are a few Tris had to say about it....

"When i was asked to do a podcast for Zutekh i started to think about what kind of
mix i should do for it.Do i play this do i play that? I have so many different flavours
that i am into but i didn't want it to be a mish mash of all of them.So with this in mind
i decided to pick a certain style and go with a particular vibe.I listen to Ad Shelton's
ace podcast again so i didn't do anything similar as i wanted to present something
that would be different than what was done previously I thought about doing
something cutting edge with loads of new promos and unreleased stuff, i thought
about doing a 90's deep house mix as i have loads of weapons on that tip too,but
what i realised is there's lots of those mixes floating about so i decided to go for one
of my favourite vibes, An Old School House Party Mix."

Derrick May -98 WJLB (Detroit Radio)-1989.

I come across this whilst looking for the Derrick May-Mayday Mix(which i will find & put up very soon). This is basically a mix recorded in 1988 from live radio back int day here's what the chap had to say about it...

"I happened to press record back in 1988 on New Years Eve to catch this “MayDay Mix” by Derrick May as 98 WJLB (Detroit Radio) counted down to the new year 1989. I really loved recording these MayDay mixes because there were always traxx that were not in stores or If I happened to have the record I would hear a different version of the song than the one on the record. But the craziest thing about the MayDay mixes is the reel to reel that you can hear sometimes spinning backward through the mix. This is classic Detroit I bet no one has this recording ha-ha!!! I’m sure I have a lot more of them I can dig up as well. This is a good history lesson for those pretending to know about the roots of Detroit Dance Music!"

BICEP | MUSCLE WORX (EXCLUSIVE MIX FOR FADER MAGAZINE NYC)

This is unreal,....

I come accross this t'other night as i follow Bicep on Soundcloud and visit the blog most weeks. Theses guys are bang on the button and always have been. If your not sure who they are..Basically they run a blog called Feel My Bicep which IMO is brilliant as they put alot of stuff up that is usually quite difficult to find & often forgotten. The blog is just brilliant(much better than this one) as it covers most aspects from really romantic(shit) Disco through proper proper House. Anyow here's a few words about the mix from the men themselves.!

An exclusive mix recorded for Fader Magazine New York
Bicep presents "Muscle Worx"
Whilst moving forward is essential in dance music, looking back is equally important. Digging through big ole' dusty creates is a passion of ours and continuing on the theme of our recent track $tripper we've put together a mix of some of our favourite 90s inspired finds from the past two years! It's a mixture of vinyl and some subtle edits which we recorded recently in London summing up what we feel is proper house music at it's finest.
You can catch up spinning some plates down at Fabric on July 7th were we'll be hosting a FEELMYBICEP room with a very special guest, none other than 90s house legend Terrence Parker! Expect Big, Fun, Carefree house
