This is a mix i listened to a while ago and was suppose to Blog but never got round to it, With tracks from Inland Knights, Kenny Larkin, Marceo Plex & a whole host of other's. I thought it was a nice change to usual flat one "genre" mixes you tend to hear alot these days. This i dunno seemed a little different(maybe it was the situation i listened  to it on  thatlost hour eary sunday morning after one two many).

Anyow here's a little about TL for the people that don't know.

Lionni has had a busy couple of years releasing on key labels such as Freerange, Madhouse records, Defected records, Ostgut-ton, Versatile, Mule Musique and of course Francois K’s legendary Wave Music. His musical style is a perfect fusion of Detroit tinged techno and brooding deep house and has gained him plaudits and support from press and DJs alike.
A resident of Manchester in its 1980s Chicago / Detroit acid house heyday, Tony Lionni could be found partying at the Hacienda with the best of them. Now resident in Berlin, the producer has managed to find the meeting point between these three great cities. On long-overdue debut album "As One" he fuses the clean lines of Berlin with the warmth of Detroit and jacking dancefloor sounds of Chicago. That's not forgetting the big piano line, of course, as featured on his massive Osgut Ton release "Found A Place" (re-jigged here as "Found Another Place"). This is music that soothes your soul and moves your body at the same time. Quality tech-house music for the heart.
As one album review from Piccadilly records manchester

Since its inception over 7 years ago, Leicester-based club night City Fly has concocted an alchemy of sounds that have drenched the city in the deeper, soulful and techier shades of house ' simultaneously revitalising the city's nightscape and gaining a reputation as being one of the finest underground house nights in The Midlands. Vibes & Pepper Recordings

For me right now, these guys are the Shiznik. I bought a collection of records a couple of month back and it really opened my eyes to how good the US House scene was back in the 90's(as most of the records are from that era). I had previously over looked this Era, i mean i knew Sanchez n Helden n co, but this record collection opened my eyes to a whole new world of Masters At Work as i had before assumed they were well pretty commercial house & Producer's like Jovon, Stickmen etc etc & labels like Henry Street, FFFR etc.

Vibes n pepper are  French Label along with Myloveisunderground who are bringing the whole US House vibe back. I'm sure there are other Labels doing the same but i've not come accross them as yet.

These are two really good mixes from the camp.

i hope you enjoi..

CHRIS DUCKENFIELD_CIDER HOUSE RULES

Chris Duckenfield is a firm Favorite of mine he always has been, with his different aliases & styles of production as well as been an ace-versatile DJ!

He's a DJ'S DJ & to be honest ive never heard anyone say a bad word about anything he touches, I love the fact he always throws some curve balls in but it seems only he can pull them off.

This is a mix i heard a few month ago(back at mine at the after's) I was going to post is up then but totally forgot until now. Its typical Duckenfield & i can't wait to see him play again, which may be sooner rather than later with a new event in the pipe line for Huddersfield. ; )

Frenchy-Throwing Shapes Xmas US House Classics Special Broadcast 29th Dec 2010

Throwing Shapes is always a must for me, i usually try catch it live but if i don't I usually tend to get it later  when they post them on the podcast. Its a Show hosted by two of the Basic's Residents Tristan & Frenchy. They have had a Fuck load of ace guests from the experienced Ralph Lawson,Buckley & Adam Shelton through to up n coming artists such as Luke Gibson(push:on, Disport). The Show is held on a bi-weekly on Thursday's but they may have moved to wednesdays  Broadcast from myhouseyourhouse, net

They Begin the start of 2012 with James Johnston (no matter what records)..he's the Bussines(thats all i'm saying). because you need to check him out for yourself.....check his site

Anyway thats enough about the show(take a listen to & see for yourself)..Although we will be posting up alot more of the previous show as & when on here and we also have the Tristan Da Cunha live @BacktoBasics 20th Birthday which is personally my favourite mix at the moment(possibly ever).

I came accross this mix last year when Frenchy posted it up, it's full of quality music mostly pre-96 that still imo still sound fresh today. The whole U.S House boom was huge in Huddersfield & i'm Lucky to be good friends with some of the main player's when all this was happening, such as Moss(who used to own Fourth Wave), Junia(who was a resident at Club Non & is also still releasing records today most recent on 1200 Traxx) & Jagga(VSP). They are sometimes stuck in there era & i don't blame them because its a great sound & i hear the vibes in Hudds were awsome then too. As i said i got into house on the tail end of the US House boom(although i do predict it will re-surface & be the next big thing) just as all the Boomty stuff was taking over. However listening back to this mix i wish i'd of sacked my Hip Hop/Garage off & got into this tackle.! I always remember going to MadHatters(which Frenchy used to run) to see Slum Science(huddersfield own) and this type of music was all new to me. admititdley they played a little tougher but all the same it was chunky, tough beat but still had a lot of soul..I hope u enjoy this mix as much as i did...

Here's what Frenchy had to say about it..

With Tristan away in Spain for the Xmas period Frenchy flies solo on this Throwing Shapes broadcast, providing a special retrospective mix of pre '96 U.S. house classics.

Featuring tracks from all the usual suspects and labels, as well as some more obscure numbers, this is a 3 hour reflection of the U.S. style that has influenced Frenchy's sound so much over the years, compiled and mixed live with a lot of love!

Frenchy and Tristan would like to say a massive thanks to everyone who has tuned in or
downloaded the shows in 2010. We've absolutely loved it and are looking forward to more of the same in 2011! We've got some really exciting guests coming up, so keep tuning in and throwing shapes!
Big love and wishing you all the very best for the coming year XXX

Frankie Knuckles - Live @ PowerPlant, Chicago, 1983

Here it is a live recording from the PowerPlant in Chicago from Frankie Knuckles, for those that don't know Here's a little info on the man...

Robert Williams encouraged Frankie Knuckles to move from New York to Chicago in 1977 to headline his new club, the Warehouse, at 206 S. Jefferson Street. Knuckles became famous for breaking obscurities alongside the latest New York club cuts. The Warehouse was known for its long hours (from midnight to 8 A.M. or later every Saturday), its massive sound system, and its dedicated crowd.
In December 1982, Knuckles moved to the Power Plant just as local producers started making recordings. The Power Plant closed suddenly in late 1985. Knuckles briefly spun for WBMX, Medusa’s, Coconuts, and Gallery 21. In 1987, with house music climbing the British pop charts, Knuckles left for London. After a few months, he returned to New York to focus on production work. In 1997 he won a Grammy for Remixer of the Year after working with Toni Braxton, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Lisa Stansfield, Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, and the Pet Shop Boys..
i've also managed to get a track list for it...
